Missie naar Mars (Mission to Mars) - a project management simulation
Missie naar Mars (Mission to Mars) is a computer based simulation that allows participants to experience the dynamics and complexity of project management.
Project management is a discipline that takes many years of work experience to master. By taking part in a simulation, the necessary skills can be learned at an accelerated pace in a safe environment. That way, the participants will experience the problems and challenges that come with the practice of project management, without the risks that reality brings.
The case is challenging and the result wholly depends on the choices that the participants make as a team. Will they meet the deadline? Will they be able to stick to the budget? Will they succeed in launching the rocket to Mars? And will the crew survive this very arduous space journey?
Mission to Mars lasts one day. After a general introduction, the participants get going with their project in teams. The project is divided into 6 phases where in each phase specific decisions must be made. These decisions are entered in a PC after which the effects of those decisions are displayed on the team's beamer. In addition to this, all sorts of information is shown on a central beamer.
You can read more about Missie naar Mars / Mission to Mars in the article in Leren in Organisaties (Dutch), but we are also happy to visit you for a demonstration.
